My Announcements Feature
Since it's launch, this feature has been responsible for an 11% uptick in user-generated content.
- Responsible for visual design of 8 themed stationary templates included designing backgrounds, choosing illustrations from stock art collection, altering illustrations to fit new Classmates illustration style and defining color palette
- Designed user interface comps for creating and viewing announcements
- Devised navigation concepts as a result of last minute business changes
- Contributing author to functional spec
- Conducted bug- reporting of functionality while in development
- Participated in usability testing post-launch

For a social networking site, user generated content is a key driver of page views and member loyalty. The goal of this feature was to increase membership value, advertising revenures and paid subscriptions by creating new opportunities for user-generated content. The feature allows users to post annoucements about their lives by providing an easy-to-use interface and themed templates. Users may also send alerts regarding their announcements to members of their Classmates network, thus providing cross-promotional activity of another recent feature.
